Diego Corrales - Honoring Boxing Greats

With 2014 reflections having past, I couldn't think of a current boxer worth writing about, so I thought to honor one from the past.

Diego Corrales' sudden death was tragic to boxing. Corrales will forever be remembered for his fight with Jose Luis Castillo in May 2005. However, if you ever watched his previous fights, Corrales would not succumb to defeat, no matter how badly beaten he was. Those with his well-being in mind were the ones to stop his fights.

Check out the Diego Corrales Showtime tribute if you have not already seen it. It's a must.

Going forward, 2015 has the making of a great year. A number of potential great fights exist: Floyd vs Pacquiao, Canelo vs. Cotto, Maidana vs. Thurman, Broner vs. Matthysee.

Also, a number of questions remain: will Cotto prove he's 160 pound champion to put an exclamation point on his hall of fame career? Will Al Haymon end his reign of terror and arrange good fights? Will a big name fighter give Gennody Golovkin "GGG" his pay-per-view opporunity? Will legalities prevent Julio Chavez Jr, Mike Garcia, and Andre Ward from taking the ring?

For now, let's honor a great from the past, until the next great fighter emmerges. Diego Corrales, grew up in Sacramento, and made the fight game a truly mesmerizing sport. #boxing
