Rosado Out Slugged by Lemiex, What's Next?

By Brian Posada

As many boxing fans already know, Gab Rosado rarely is involved in a fight that is not fun to watch. Therefore, when he stepped up to fight the Canadian star, David Lemiex, die-hards were ready to tune in.

This fight did not dissapoint as Rosado gave his all until he was punished into TKO submission in the 10th round.

Rosado definitely had his moments early in the fight. However, Lemiex's power took over the show as the fight wore on. Rosado was dropped by a clubbing shot to the eye in the third round. From that point on it was only how long could Rosado last. The Puerto Rican warrior beaten up but not beaten lasted to the 10th round before the referree gave him the mercy stoppage. It was probably fair given how much punishment was taking. Lemiexu's power was on display this night and Rosado's movement was not enough.

On a plus side for Rosado, his eye did not open up with a cut as in his previous three bouts. It might be due to the fact Lemiex is not a speed puncher, he definitely loads up, allowing for opponents to move or cover up just enough. Rosado will have options going forward but definitely needs a win to salvage his spiraling career.

Lemiex on the other hand has a number of big fight options going forward. Of course, HBO will want to throw him in with GGG due to lack of available opponents for the middle-weight king.

Personally, I hope Lemiex's camp advises against it and allows him 1 or 2 more tune up bouts. He's not ready for GGG but it might be the bigger fight and the Canadian star is confident. So he may just want to fight him. I'd like to see Lemiex take a tune fight versus Curtis Stevens or even Andy Lee or Peter Quillen.

On a side note: Golden Boy has not disappointed since returning to the HBO network (while Showtime continues to put together horrible cards). The first card included Hopkins vs Kovalev which was an action packed light-heavy weight bout, fans will have to await for Canelo to return in 2015 to keep things going for Golden Boy and HBO.
